Open Studio Special Event
I finally decided to just do it--I’m hosting a free, one-hour Open Studio on Zoom March 25, 7pm ET. No arts experience required.
All you need is:
A black marker
A tissue, scarf or handkerchief
We’re going to make blackout poetry from some ironic sources:
1920s medical literature about women who dragged themselves from specialist to specialist without getting better, and what their physicians thought about that. (I’ll send these)
Recent wellness blogs about “cozy culture” written for people who can choose when to be “cozy” and stay in bed. (I’ll send these or you can bring your favorite)
Your own junk mail--Insurance correspondence, medical newsletters, wellness catalogue, supplements marketing materials, pharmacy informational insert, and any other found text you collect.
Any text that arrived uninvited and proceeded to have opinions about your health.

Here’s what the evening looks like:
We check in as we do in our videos—this will be a group activity to take advantage of Zoom.
We create our poems and get to know each other.
Then we share (or don’t) and reflect.
Then we check out.
I’ll be working alongside you the whole time.
Pajamas welcome, bring your safe snacks and drinks, and if your fur babies want to Zoom bomb us, that’s great.
About an hour total. Unrecorded. Just the people in the room.
When
MARCH 25 at 7PM ET Free.
Open to all Unfolding Path subscribers.

In the week before we meet, I’ll send you a small packet of texts to print and use during the Open Studio.
